Di Situ: An Exhibition borrows the Latin phrase ‘in situ’ that literally means ‘on site’. This exhibition showcases both artists and their artwork that are on site, be it sensitive to their place or out-of-place.

On site, visual artist Novia Shin and designer Lee Soon Yong, are working with Gudang Yee Seng 2, which is also the exhibition venue. Novia illustrates daily routines and memories of the warehouse occupants; Soon Yong invites viewers to imagine what is missing in the warehouse compound. At the same time, KongsiKL as co-presenter, thinks of its role and relationship with its site and neighbours. Meanwhile Elsewhere, dance-artist Lee Ren Xin and writer-director Ridhwan Saidi reflect through an in-depth interview, on their relationship with respective sites. Ren Xin has an interpretive ongoing long-term project at Seksyen 17 and Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya; Ridhwan Saidi’s experimental films and plays take place around Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam. Site Now, a series of conversations and fieldworks that invites the public for a first-hand experience of working on-site. This segment intends to zoom out our perspective of a ‘site’, looking at other creatives working on their time and space, in a different context.

Ultimately, whether on-site in Gudang Yee Seng 2, or elsewhere; whether an art practitioner, art space or viewer, this exhibition puts forth a core question, what is the relationship of a place with our work?
